Pruning for Climate Change
Shape, color and texture sampling above. See my Pinterest board https://www.pinterest.com/aneye for more informal, colorful and transparent options! Pruning can achieve a superb look above ground while building the structure below ground that turns climate change around!
Espalier Fruit Tree Training
I can train your fruit tree to wonderfully pleasing and practical shapes. Keep yourself safe with your fruit within reach. Your vegetable garden can accommodate an apple tree within it - a guild of edible herbs and flowers can surround it too. We can build soil in your veg garden with trees and other deep rooted plants!
Eye-catching Pruning
From understated to extravagant. I do Japanese Garden style, Cloud Pruning, Topiary, Pollarding, Coppicing, and Pleaching. Let's consider pruning what you have or bringing in the plant for you.

Best Planting Practices
In the picture above we are in the process of planting conifers. Dozens of considerations go into planting. Understanding the soil you're digging into is crucial.
Trees fall over or otherwise die at too young an age because they have been planted wrong! This is very preventable! A small investment up front saves the tree, money and possible damage to property in the long-run!
Diverse Hedge Border
Diversity is flowers for bees and native pollinators in early spring, then another and another and another plant blooms through the year. Fruit and seed for wildlife follow. Birds are protected amongst the twigs from hawks and cats. Replace your fence with this seasonally changing tapestry!
Consultations
1st your needs.
Then my expertise.
You decide who does the work: me, you or working side by side. Or hire someone else.
Hands on instruction. Q&A. Soil testing and how to proceed with soil building. Plant ID. What to keep, what to pull out. How to mitigate basement moisture and manage water on your property.

Hummingbird Gardens
Draw hummingbirds to your home with
flowers they love!
Trees, shrubs, vines, perennials and annuals. I make bright and beautiful plant combinations for a spot you'll notice them from (front walk, sitting spot, a window).
Edible Gardens
From dedicated vegetable patches to food plants integrated into your landscape. You'll be putting carbon in the ground instead of having it put in the atmosphere as trucks ship you food. Instead you'll be eating ultra locally!
Steep Slope Solutions
Building Soil Carbon doesn't work if the surface is washing away. Sadly, many landscapers end up making erosion on slopes worse. Only carefully selected plants can ensure a long-term solution.

Climate Change Solutions 101
❖ Climate Change is caused largely by CO2 in fossil fuels, plants and the soil being released into the air as a gas. The gas is released from burning fuels, decomposing plants and agricultural tillage. ❖
✣ Plants pull CO2 out of the air and build their shoots, their roots, and the soil around the roots with CO2 as a building block! ✣
✣ These building blocks are called sequestered carbon (or just 'stored carbon' sometimes) ✣
❖ The carbon building blocks in the soil also make good soil structure which leads to healthier plants making more building blocks. ❖
✣ A diversity of plants growing together makes more carbon building blocks. ✣
❖ Pruning makes space for a diversity of plants. Pruning also causes some roots to die and be replaced. This can lead to more building blocks in the soil faster than without pruning. ❖
❖ Deep roots put carbon where most of it it won't be released back into the air. ❖
✣ I focus on these climate change solutions: diverse plantings, deep roots and pruning. ✣
