What can I do to make a difference?

Plant a diverse yard and prune consistently to make room for all that diversity. Pruning also works on the unseen underground. Roots are shed in response to pruning above ground. These roots are food for soil building organisms. As roots decay soil channels are left behind--these are crucial structure in the soil and they help water move through that soil (combats compaction). Roots are made of carbon (and other elements), and some of that carbon will remain in the soil. THAT is what we want! Carbon in the soil because that means it is not in the air causing climate change. Plants put carbon back in the ground (sequester it there). Every bit makes a difference. There isn’t any insignificant contribution. Please don’t wait for a government-run massive carbon sequestration project to be implemented on a former farm somewhere. You can live in and enjoy your carbon-sequestration-landscape right in your own yard.
